Welcome to my very first blog post for The Maine Square Woman!
It all started in April 2016 when I decided to teach myself how to sew. I didn't want to practice my straight stitching on a piece of scrap fabric. I want to actually make something. So, for some reason, I thought of making men's pocket squares. You know, those little hankies that peek out of men's jacket pockets? Totally timeless. Hence The Maine Square was born.
Well, that was fifteen months ago and The Maine Square is starting to get off the ground slowly but surely. A lot of men still associate pocket squares with getting all dressed up. I do make a lot of custom orders for grooms and groomsmen. The Maine Square makes a great keepsake gift for sure! However, I have been trying to convince men that they can wear a pocket square in a more casual manner as well. I say skip the tie and wear a square instead! Pocket squares really can step your look up a notch without the discomfort of wearing a tie. You can also wear a Maine Square in your shirt pocket. No jacket necessary. Check out The Maine Square on Instagram to see how some men have recently worn The Maine Square in their shirt pocket! Very preppy, classic and cool.
Today I would like to announce that The Maine Square Woman has officially been born. It wouldn't be right to only cater to men, right?
What does the future hold for The Maine Square? I am thinking The Maine Square Home, which will consist of square napkins and placemats. Also, The Maine Square Pet will not be too far behind carrying scarves for your pet. Thinking about The Maine Square Kids line as well. We are open for suggestions on that one. Whatever it is, it just has to be square.....
Below you will find photos from The Maine Square Woman's first ever photo shoot along the Penobscot River in Veazie, Maine. This will more than likely be a frequent location for us. It's so quiet and calm and extremely beautiful. And it's just down the street from our studio!
