Part of the reason why I love living in Maine is the fact that we get to celebrate all four seasons. The trouble is, that the fourth one, winter, tends to last just a tad too long for me. That's why I am determined to make the most of fall! As I am writing this blog post, it's still August. August is a transition time for all of us. A strange feeling comes over me at this time of year. It's difficult to explain what it feels like. I think it is a good and bad feeling at the same time, if that is even possible. It is a time for change. I always say that I love change because I get bored really easily, however change is a bit uncomfortable, for most of us anyway. I think that is why I feel funny in my tummy at this time of year.
Sometimes all we need to get us over that transition hump is to introduce a couple of new pieces into our closet. This August I chose this adorable Signature Katahdin skirt from L.L.Bean. When I purchased it at the L.L. Bean Flagship store in Freeport, Maine this summer, I couldn't imagine what I was going to wear with it. I decided to keep it simple with a navy blue ballet neck tank from Talbots and a gingham square scarf from The Maine Square Woman. I love this scarf's embroidered design of a tiny acorn on one corner. It gives that little extra boost of Maine flair which I always welcome.
P.S. I told myself that I was going to make a plan to climb Mt. Katahdin this fall. Do you believe that I am 43 years old, I have lived in Maine all my life, and I have never hiked Mt. Katahdin?! Now, I don't plan on hiking to the top. I am going to hike one of the easier trails to start off with. This skirt was a sign that I must follow through with my Katahdin dream adventure!
