Kevin reached out to me earlier this past summer to see if I would be willing custom make his groom and groomsmen accessories for his August wedding. He explained to me in his e mail that he already had purchased fabric that was very special to him. It was the Maine Dirigo Tartan Plaid made from a gorgeous wool gaberdine that coordinated with their wedding colors perfectly. I just needed to design and make them. To begin with, I was honored that he chose to reach out to me. Custom designing is what I live for! Kevin explained that he and his future wife live in Maine. And the fact that he wanted his accessories to be made in Maine, touched my heart. Maine is a very special place with a very special vibe. It’s difficult to explain, because it’s a feeling. But I know that I am not the only person who can feel it. I know Kevin and his wife understand what I am talking about. Do you? All you need to do is look at the following photos and you will…
Honestly boys and girls. Do you really want to know how to tie a bow tie, or do you just want to wear one and look fabulous? In this day and age, who has time to fiddle with tying a bow tie? It can be so stressful tying and retying, trying to get it right. You start to sweat. And now, you have armpit stains. Gross. I would like to enlighten you on this subject if I may. There is absolutely no reason why you need to stress out in order to wear a bow tie. I make it so easy for you to look fantastic at The Maine Square. Want to know how? Keep scrolling down and I will explain...
Every single bow tie from The Maine Square comes pre-tied in the perfect bow. And every single bow tie and be adjusted to your neck size by sliding the adjuster in the back. There is also a hook in the back that you can unhook. Then you can simply place the bow tie around your neck and hook it in the back. If you need to adjust it a little tighter, simply spin it around on your neck and use the sliding adjuster. Then you can spin the bow tie back around your neck so the bow is in the front, put your collar down, and your good to go. Also, I must mention that the pre-tied bow is not permanent, so if one day you are feeling crazy, you can go ahead and untie it and tie it yourself. Okay, so there is one more thing. Keep reading.....
Now, if you are in fact into tying bow ties, you can request that your bow tie gets shipped to you untied, so that you can do it yourself. When you order, just write me a note stating that you would like to tackle this bow tying thing all by yourself. I am not doubting that you can do it! I just know that truthfully, most people would rather not.
We all know that self tied bow ties are much cooler than those mass produced pre-tied clip on styles that you can find for a dime a dozen on the internet. The Maine Square gives you the self tied bow tie look without actually tying it yourself. Plus they are all handmade by a human being sitting in her sewing studio in Veazie, Maine. It doesn't get better than that!
Today was a really special day for me. I woke up with that same feeling that a child gets in their stomach on Christmas morning! A belly filled with butterflies and my brain going in all directions thinking about the many possibilities that this opportunity could possibly bring to me and my brand, The Maine Square. Keep reading to find out what opportunity I am talking about!...
About a month ago or so, Julia from Andrea's Bridal located in Downtown Portland, Maine contacted me about possibly carrying The Maine Square in her sister location called His & Hers which is literally right down the sidewalk from Andrea's Bridal on Congress Street. His & Hers caters to ladies and gentlemen who need to get spiffed up for a wedding, prom, gala, or any event that you can possibly think of. When she asked me to design a summer collection for His & Hers it was an immediate yes for me! What an amazing opportunity to show off my brand to a busy metropolitan area on the coast of Maine!
The summer collection that I created for His & Hers by Andrea's Bridal is filled with soft shades of peach and mint as well as blush, pale blue and gray. And it would be unheard of if I didn't include some seersucker, stripes and paisley as well. This perfectly preppy collection is now available for purchase at His & Hers as well as online at TheMaineSquare.com. And if you don't see the colors that you need for your special occasion, then let me know! I can design whatever you need in a matter of four weeks!
Here I am standing with my summer collection at His & Hers by Andrea's Bridal! An exciting day for me for sure! Now we will see what happens next.......
I was so excited to receive an e mail towards the beginning of this past May from my friends at JAK Designs in Kennebunkport, Maine. They wanted to order more stuff from The Maine Square to sell in their shop! As a designer and a maker I am very critical of my work. Around this time last year the ladies at JAK ordered some of my pocket squares to sell in their shop. I wondered how they were selling, but I never inquired because I didn't want to apply that kind of pressure on them. I figured that if they didn't sell or if they didn't care for my product that I would either hear about it and they would want their money back, or they wouldn't order anything else of mine to sell in their shop ever again. So you can understand why I was so please to hear from them again this year!
I designed this little quintessential Maine collection for JAK Designs per their request. Perfect for the true Mainer or for the tourist who wants to take a little bit of Maine back home with them, don't you think? Everything you see here is hand made by myself and everything can be found at JAK Designs in Kennebunkport. You can also find everything here at TheMaineSquare.com everything is made to order. Get your order in before June 8th to be guaranteed for delivery in time for Father's Day 2018!
It took a while for it to feel like spring in Maine, but I believe that we have finally made it! We are seeing magnolia trees blooming. Tulips and daffodils are finally feeling safe enough to peek up from the ground. The grass has turned green in most areas virtually overnight. And soon we will see green leaves forming from the tiny buds on the trees.
Spring has officially sprung in Maine!
I would say that it is safe to start dressing for spring now too! And I have created something special for the ladies. I would like to introduce my Spring Sailboat Scarf. It is super lightweight and is just the right accessory to get you sailing smoothly into the warmer months ahead.
It's always good to try something new and I have just the thing. May I suggest taking a sailing cruise this summer? One of my favorite places to take a sailboat cruise is in Camden, Maine. You can sign up at MaineSchooners.com by clicking HERE. Be prepared to have your breath taken away by some of the most beautiful scenery in the world! It's a wonderful experience.

Can you tell that we are just a little bit excited for Spring here at The Maine Square?
If you live in New England and are looking outside right now, you are probably wondering if Spring is ever going to arrive. Up until now we were doing pretty well here in central Maine. The snow was almost all melted away! Just a few mini dirty snow banks here and there. This morning we are waking up to it snowing sideways. However, we are not losing hope here at The Maine Square. We have so much to look forward to! Including our new spring collection filled with softer colors, seersucker and handsome woodsy patterns. Feel free to click on the photos below to begin browsing Spring at The Maine Square. Trust me, it will make you feel better.
Some people think that wearing a scarf is too complicated. But you and I know better than that. A scarf can take your look to a whole new level. All you need to do is tie one on. Great style doesn't get any more simple than that.
At The Maine Square we like to celebrate everyone's unique qualities. No one will ever be you. We believe that accessories are the key to personalizing your look. Because no one will ever wear it like you do.

Summer may be sexy, but winter has to be the most romantic season of the year. Getting cozy by the fire. Sipping on your favorite hot toddy while taking in your favorite tunes. You get the idea....
Staying warm during a Maine winter might be a challenge, but that's what he's there for....right?
The Maine Square was honored to join Perle Photography and Emily MacCabe Photography in January for a romantic Maine wedding photo shoot. Notice the bow tie. No man is completely dressed for his wedding without a hand made bow tie or traditional neck tie from the Maine Square.
